Customer Problem

The fire protection industry had recognized a persistent problem involving technicians either failing to install or improperly installing the actuating device on the fire suppression cylinder. In response, the NFPA established new standards for the gaseous extinguishing market that require an audible and visual signal at the fire alarm control panel (FACP) whenever the solenoid valve’s coil is removed for testing or maintenance. Consequently, a need arose to supply the necessary supervisory component for these systems.

The TLX Solution

TLX Technologies developed a family of supervised direct-acting solenoid valves, with an integrated supervisory feature, that can accommodate the operating pressure of any system up to 300 bar. Because the supervisory feature is self-contained, these solenoid valves are easier to use and install than add-on supervisory components. They feature a removable coil to allow for periodic testing and maintenance, as well as a captured fastener that prevents it from being misplaced and ensures full placement of the coil.
